Affabulazione has been established in 1992 by a group of social activist in the south metropolitan area of Rome.
The aims of our project are related to the social and cultural development of our community, which presents major problems such as:
High levels of school drop out, marginalization of young adolescents, unemployment, drug abuse, low education standards.
Our belief is that through nonformal activities such as theatre, dance, and music we can provide opportunities to young people, specially for those with fewer opportunities.
We offer up to 15 low cost art activities on a every day bases and a number of 'social doors’ namely advocacy thru lawyers and trade unions.
We have experienced national coordination of projects concerning the youth and human rights education in connection with the EC and the European Parliament.
In the center many artist find a home to produce new shoes and interact with other artistic coming from the local grounds and abroad.
A focus is delivered also to intercultural activities in connection with the immigrant population living in our local municipality, namely Ostia Lido, the 13th municipality of Rome, set along the seaside.
As a local organization we are involved in the coordination of the local public theatre teatro del Lido (www.teatrolido.it). We emphasize the importance of networking as a tool to promote cooperation and sharing of good practices.
