Solidarités Jeunesses is a national non-governmental organisation. Seven regional delegations as well as individual members compose the national movement. The French Ministry of Youth and Sports recognizes Solidarités Jeunesses as a youth and informal educative organization. It organizes short and longer-term international voluntary services (workcamps, mid-and long term voluntary services) as well as projects with people with less opportunities, training sessions and international solidarity projects. Furthermore the regional delegations are running several international hosting centers.
Through these activities, Solidarités Jeunesses aims to promote:
- Volunteering open for everybody in local, national and international projects; with a special emphasis on the work with people with less opportunities.
- Local and community development taking into account each individual, the different cultures, the environment as well cultural heritage
- Bringing together different generations, different cultures, different countries, through practical and tangible actions that contribute to establishing lasting peace.
Solidarités Jeunesses is the French branch of Youth Action for Peace, a movement created after the First World War in order to reconcile people of different nationalities. Solidarités Jeunesses unites a number of local and regional associations who share the same aims and work together to form a national entity.
